Sapphire Health was founded in 2015 with the mission of supporting healthcare organizations in the midst of complex transition, when a group of seasoned healthcare IT professionals recognized a significant gap in the market for a consulting company focused on the hardcore technical aspects of an Epic implementation. Our founder, Austin Park, was serving as the interim CTO of a major health system in New Orleans that made the decision to standardize on Epic EMR. He was asked by the system CIO to work with others to investigate options for an Epic hosted solution to overcome the skills gap. The complexity of interoperability to other dependent legacy systems quickly made hosting options untenable. But bringing all of the technical resources in-house proved to be far more difficult and... moreexpensive than expected and traditional Epic consulting shops operated in a staff augmentation model, simply providing talent not outcomes.
